Guatemala, here we come!

We're safe and sound in Antigua, Guatemala tonight, after an utterly exhausting day of traveling that began with a 3 a.m. wake up call in order to catch our 5:50 flight. Fortunately everything went smoothly - no people or baggage went missing, customs was a breeze, and no delays throughout the day.

This first photo is at the Kansas City airport. We staged all the trunks just outside the check-in area, and then each person grabbed his/her trunk when they were called to the counter to check in. If you look closely, you'll see a KCUMB ad in the display behind the trunks. It seemed very appropriate!

We had a very tight connection in Atlanta, but we made it there in time, and then a 3-hour flight to Guatemala City. Once again, we staged the trunks, this time by baggage claim, before loading them onto carts and going through customs. From there, we hauled everything outside, where our school bus was waiting to haul us and all of our gear.

Finally, home sweet home at Hotel La Sin Ventura. We arrived here at around 3, unloaded the bus, settled into our rooms, and had a few hours to explore before a group dinner at 7. And then, an early night to bed for most of us, I'm sure. Well, at least for me.
