Mixco Vieja

Many of us went on an excursion today to Mixco Vieja, a Mayan ritual site with ancient ruins. It was a brutal bus ride there and back, with winding dirt mountain roads, and a long construction delay on the way there. But it proved worth the journey. We were fortunate to have a member from the Mayan community join us, and lead a prayer ritual where we burned insense, candles, and other offerings. We then ate lunch and had about an hour to wander around the area. I could have spent all day there.
