Even when we speak "gringo" Spanish...
Even when we run out of meds and vitamins (which has happened almost every day but I'm going to work hard to raise money over the next 12 months so that this doesn't happen next year!)...
Even when there's a condition we can't treat...
The gratitude is overwhelming.
Sometimes it's in the form of a huge smile,
Sometimes it's a quick hug,
Sometimes it's a bear hug and a kiss on the cheek (got a couple of these today!)
Sometimes it's tears of thanks,
Sometimes it's a heartfelt message: "Via con Dios" (go with God) or "May He look down on you" or other beautiful sayings.
It's humbling. Very humbling.
